But thatErequires careful planning.KIf you retreive the installation procedures from the .A saveset, you shouldLhave a better idea of what the update installation procedure does. You mightGalso consider rebuilding the .A saveset with a modified procedure whichtLdoesn't prompt to mount the right medium (if you know that the savesets will<be on a drive that is available even during a minimum boot).RThe tricky part is to ensure that the tcp stack will be restarted once it is done.MPersonally, using good old serial dialup would be a far better solution. EvenoMat that, you'd want it to be at OPA0: and set the modem at the remote end NOT <to drop carrier upon loss of DTR (when your system reboots).------------------------------#Date: Sun, 19 Nov 2000 16:30:45 GMTu/From: "John Nixon" <jorlnixon@worldnet.att.net>uSubject: Re: Upgrading OpenVMSHMessage-ID: <VeTR5.14853$mq1.1032012@bgtnsc04-news.ops.worldnet.att.net>KDoes anyone know if "console works" from TecSys would help accomplish this,jJassuming there is someone on site that can insert necessary CDs? I took that to imply Alpha, whichs(is PCSI only for install/upgrade, AFAIK.DIn the past, I have suggested (for "remote" installs) transferring aB/IMAGE backup of the CD to the remote system and restoring it to a8"spare" disk (or one that can be scratched temporarily).-- gDavid J.
