Well, in fact i am an Alpha newbie, so i guess i messed up something. Anyways: it's an AlphaServer 1200 box, one 5/533 cpu, 2 sticks of 128MB RAM branded Compaq 20-A1200-08 for a total of 256MB. Works quite well, but i managed to pick up 4 new modules for a really friendly price, which are: IBM 64MB 100MHz registered ECC SD, FRU 33L3068. So with the 128MB modules in slot0, and 64MB modules in slot1&2, i turn on the system and SRM shows this: 0 DIMM 256 0 1 DIMM 0 20000000 - not configured properly 2 DIMM 0 40000000 - not configured properly Without the original modules (64MB sticks in 0&1) i don't even get SRM. Possible clue is, while the Compaq modules have 9 chips on either side of them, the IBM's got 9 chips total (4 on one side, 5 on the other). Maybe they are single sided modules and that's a problem? Any help is much appreciated! Cheers, Tamas ------------------------------ Date: 2 Mar 2007 10:58:58 -0800 From: "Charlie" Subject: Re: For Charlie Hammond and his excellent DCL checker. Message-ID: <1172861938.784835.275010@n33g2000cwc.googlegroups.com> As Norm pointed out, this has been fixed in later versions. Specifically, the fix seems to be in B3.0 date 13-Mar-2002 (approx). The current version is A3.5, You can request this by sending mail to me at Charles.Hammond@HP.com. Please include the email address to which I should send it. (A VMS email is a lot easier for this purpose!) I believe that the version on the latest freeware is V3.4. That will work as well as A3.5 for all but a very few situations. (The additional fixes in A3.5 relate to some obxcure issues with /DOLLARS on $DECK statements. I have also added counts of DCL__CHECK SKIP and DCL_CHECK SUPPRESS lines in A3.5) -Charlie ------------------------------ Date: 2 Mar 2007 21:52:53 -0800 From: "Peter Weaver" Subject: Re: LPR with UCX and Fortran Carriage Control Files Message-ID: <1172901173.608880.68590@t69g2000cwt.googlegroups.com> On Mar 2, 11:12 am, Albrecht Schlosser wrote: >... > Yes, you can and you _must_ use a Telnet relay queue to get FORTRAN > carriage control interpreted correctly. This significantly lowers prices for many customers. I can map a "share" on OSX and create and edit files from the command line (eg. % vi /Volumes/share-name/test.txt) without any issue. How- ever, if I try to edit the file with the TextEdit application, I can not save the file. I don't see where the problem exists. I've tried increasing the SAMBA debugging/logging levels but this does not offer any information to yield a reason for this failure either. I take it you don't have a support contract for V8.3. If you don't think this stuff is meeting your needs, OF COURSE you should submit product feedback and/or documentation feedback. Suppose someone is working on cleaning this up. Would you prefer that he 1. Read your mind, or 2. gets your comments/questions/suggestions/complaints and has a chance to address them?
