Just curious: would that be something JF could buy, run it through some compiler and get it to run on that "8086" thing ? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2007 09:11:39 +0000 From: "R.A.Omond" Subject: Re: OpenVMS Alpha Source Code listing QB-MT1AB-E8 Message-ID: Michael Kraemer haette nicht schreiben sollen: > R.A.Omond schrieb: > >> vmshobby_au@yahoo.com.au wrote: >> >>> Should have mentioned I currently use the fische version 4.0 - 4.3 and >>> I was wanting to upgrade as alot has changed in 14 years. >>> >>> How many CDs are in the set for Alpha 8.3? >> >> I'm not sitting next to the source CDs at the moment, but if >> I recall correctly, VMS 8.3 source comes on 5 CDs. >> >> I think VMS 8.2 was on 4 (or was that VMS 7.3-2). > > Just curious: would that be something JF could > buy, run it through some compiler and get it > to run on that "8086" thing ? Er, no. And Michael you already knew that ;-) ------------------------------ Date: 10 Mar 2007 08:38:27 -0600 From: Kilgallen@SpamCop.net (Larry Kilgallen) Subject: Re: OpenVMS Alpha Source Code listing QB-MT1AB-E8 Message-ID: In article , Michael Kraemer writes: > Just curious: would that be something JF could > buy, run it through some compiler and get it > to run on that "8086" thing ? Of course it is, depending on exactly what is meant by the term "some compiler". Of course writing that compiler might be more expensive than buying all of HP. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2007 17:07:04 GMT From: VAXman- @SendSpamHere.ORG Subject: Re: SAMBA on OpenVMS with OS X client Message-ID: <00A64695.14D3F8F9@SendSpamHere.ORG> In article , Paul Sture writes: > > >In article <00A645ED.385CEFB1@SendSpamHere.ORG>, > VAXman- @SendSpamHere.ORG wrote: > > >> >> To whomever is working on this at HP, Samba has got to work with ODS-5 >> >> volume shares. >> >> >> > >> >Roundly seconded. >> >> As long as it is not a problem when using a Micro$hite Weendoze machine, >> there's no way they're going to bother with this issue. > >Well, didn't you say you had access to such an abomination? >Just for testing purposes only of course, to eliminate the OS X side. > > > >But, seeing your directory named [GigsOfPixOfGigs] has reminded me of >another potential problem facing you, namely that OS X chokes on large >Samba directores, which you see in the Google discussion below. This is a new site... nothing there yet... just testing. I have a SINGLE test.txt file which, as I've reported, can't be editted using TextEdit. I have no issues using that 'robust' vi editor. Strangely, I can copy entire folders of web page stuff authoried out of Aperture onto these Samba drives. The only thing I was hoping was to be able to allow my wife to edit the main iindex.html it generates and show here where to make a css edit which I find make the templete a bit more appealing. -- VAXman- A Bored Certified VMS Kernel Mode Hacker VAXman(at)TMESIS(dot)COM "Well my son, life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2007 02:39:56 -0500 From: JF Mezei Subject: Re: Time zone/DST change question. Message-ID: I applied the patch to my VAXen. However, VAX VMS 7.3 lacks the sysgen AUTO_DLIGHT_SAV Am I correct in saying that without DTSS or NTP running, VAX-VMS 7.3 will NOT change the time automatically and I still need to do a SET TIME=+01:00 command on sunday at 02:00 ? This is my first time change on VAX with 7.3 installed. ------------------------------ End of INFO-VAX 2007.138 ************************
