When this happened I restored the most recent backup tape of the disk to a fresh disk on another system. I mounted it privately and repeated the same goof and UNDELETE command. Same results. So it has nothing to do with exclusive access. DFU locks the volume anyway during UNDELETE. >----O----< I forgot to mention I also got messages like this: %ANALDISK-W-ALLOCCLR, blocks incorrectly marked allocated LBN 421880 to 421883, RVN 1 >----O----< Also, the doc says (V2.4) NOTE: The volume (set) will be locked for other users during the undelete command unless the /LIST qualifier is used. The UNDELETE command may be able to recover the file if it has not yet been overwritten with a new one. Much care has been taken to make this command as safe as possible; therefore no disk corruptions will be the result of an UNDELETE. If DFU encounters a problem with a deleted file it will refuse to UNDELETE it. >----O----< OK: What I don't understand is why it messed with the the file sequence numbers in the file headers of other files. > Note also that DFU V2.7 or so DELETE/TREE cannot handle huge file counts in a > tree without issues. Message-ID: <002601c7cbca$b2a30950$17e91bf0$@com> Anyone have a pointer to the documentation for the basic TCP/IP Portmapper programs? What I am looking for is the equivalent to the Unix/Linux /etc/hosts.allow files. I want to run a different version of telnet/ssh for a few particular IP addresses... 8/ Under Unix/Linux, I would just modify /etc/hosts.allow to do something like this... in.telnetd : 10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0 : twist /usr/local/sbin/local_telnetd in.telnetd : ALL : \ twist /bin/echo -e "\n\raccess from %h declined.\n\rGo away.";sleep 2 Oh yes, and does it log the access attempts, and if so, where? Thanks -Paul Yes, I have some nuisance person I want to catch pulling some amateur shenanigans... I just need to log some evidence and then I'll go pull his cork. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jul 2007 16:16:04 -0400 From: "Richard B. Last I heard you could have a "one version difference" in a cluster; e.g. some nodes at 8.2 and others at 8.3. I would think that the fix would be to upgrade the other node to 8.3. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jul 2007 21:25:55 GMT From: VAXman- @SendSpamHere.ORG Subject: Re: queue manager and OpenVMS version dependencies Message-ID: In article <46A26984.9020200@comcast.net>, "Richard B. That is the eventual goal; however, one of the nodes is production and the other is a test/development node. The idea is to upgrade the test/ development node, get all of their in-house and third party apps up to snuff, and then, and only then, the development node can be updated. One of the things needing to be tested and verify as working for them is Advanced Server. -- VAXman- A Bored Certified VMS Kernel Mode Hacker VAXman(at)TMESIS(dot)COM "Well my son, life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?" http://tmesis.com/drat.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Jul 2007 20:56:29 -0400 From: JF Mezei Subject: Re: queue manager and OpenVMS version dependencies Message-ID: VAXman- @SendSpamHere.ORG wrote: >>> I have a small cluster that I am trying to upgrade. The opcom reposts: Mr VAXMAN, When I got my first Alpha and put 8.3 on it, it would not cooperate with VAX 7.2 queue manager. Upon upgrading the VAXen to 7.3, they cooperated together without the need to apply a patch. MONITOR CLUSTER is still broken though. And remember that with 7.2 VAX, you cannot mount ODS5 disks. With 7.3 VAX, you can mount ODS5 disks with some restrictions /caveats. ------------------------------ End of INFO-VAX 2007.397 ************************
