If you come to look, please note that the current members try very hard to maintain a professional and polite manner, even when discussing subjects in which there are significant disagreements, which is something that I have always liked about Eisner. Have been thinking at a low priority of how I will move their contents to a modern platform as those are more of a "reference" material. ALL-IN-1 has scriptable access to NOTES, so once I have decided how to move those to a new system, it should be relatively easy to extract the data and move it. ------------------------------ Date: 8 Jun 2008 04:09:54 -0500 From: burley+news@encompasserve.org (Graham Burley) Subject: Re: Has anybody ported VAX notes to Integrity? There's a web interface and a news (nntp) interface, both are in use on DECUServe and Deathrow. The web interface is called HTNotes and supports authenticated and anonymous access, works with WASD, OSU, and Apache (with MOD_OSUSCRIPT and some tinkering). I'm slowly working on an new version that looks better and will hopefully include an RSS feed. http://www.decuserve.org/~burley/ The news (nntp) interface is called NNTP_NOTES, it only supports authenticated access. I haven't released this yet, but can provide it if anyone is interested. The original read-only Notes web access at DECUServe was based on scripts by Roland Kessi, but went through some major reworking by DECUServers. I think DECUS Germany also produced a read/write Notes web interface. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2008 09:27:21 -0700 From: "Tom Linden" Subject: NCL question Message-ID: Recently rebooted 8.3 which had been running on DS10L onto ES45. I thought it was a nightmare. All I ever really wanted was to do DECnet over Ethernet. DECnet Phase V and NCL seems to do everything from tin cans and string to satellite links. The poor user is abandoned to his fate! The guy who wrote the documentation was so damned proud of all the layers, towers, and stacks that he didn't get around to explaining how to configure and use DECnet V before I died of boredom! If possible, install DECnet Phase IV. It did, and still does, everything I need. It probably still does everything you need too. DEC seemed to have the idea that everyone was going to use VAX or Alpha VMS to handle WAN routing and management. I've never seen, or heard of, a shop that did. Everywhere I've been, the DEC stuff was on the local Ethernet and access to the WAN, if any, was via a Cisco router that took care of the WAN protocols. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2008 09:05:11 -0700 From: "Tom Linden" Subject: TCPIP SH HOST Message-ID: It would be useful to also display all aliases -- PL/I for OpenVMS www.kednos.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jun 2008 16:10:32 +0000 (UTC) From: helbig@astro.multiCLOTHESvax.de (Phillip Helbig---remove CLOTHES to reply) Subject: Re: TCPIP SH HOST Message-ID: In article , "Tom Linden" writes: > It would be useful to also display all aliases What do you mean? Hitler's Bunker? Hmm... save for the coffee and Guinness stains on my T- shirts, I didn't notice and brown shirts goose-stepping about the hotel. No, it's been improved to appeal to Brits like you. It now resembles the Pontins accommodations such as those in Brean Sands, Somerset. Hi-de-Hi! You'll just love it but be sure to stock up on electric metre cards when you arrive to insure that the lights don't go out on you while you're in taking your 30 seconds of rationed water shower. The grounds about the Sheraton are not as full of duck shit as at Pontins, which may leave you pining for home, but I'd wager that that could be addressed by having you visit the area around the non-paged pool. -- VAXman- A Bored Certified VMS Kernel Mode Hacker VAXman(at)TMESIS(dot)COM "Well my son, life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?" http://tmesis.com/drat.html ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Jun 2008 07:20:13 -0700 From: "Tom Linden" Subject: Re: You're not being the ball Danny.
