Graham" Subject: SNAP & WATCH To: "info-vax" Greetings and Hallucinations, Well, I have finally finished the latest version of SNAP and WATCH. For those who are wondering...SNAP is a process control program that uses screen displays to show all processes then lets you get stats on them, delete them, force exits, get UAF data or invoke WATCH to actually observe (or input) their terminal activity. [WATCH does not work on RTA devices.] SNAP has been updated and many little bugs are fixed. The new features include paging through the processes, 18 at a time. (When I wrote it, all I had was a 780, with a 6240, I realized paging was needed for 100+ processes.) There is a new UAF feature that extracts certain data from the SYSUAF.DAT file and displays it. SNAP & WATCH work on SMP systems, even though they give the standard generated warnings when the Macro modules are assembeled. I can't guarantee they will work on ALL SMP systems, but they do work on my 6240 and a few other multiprocessor systems with which I am familiar. The use of these programs requires most privs you can think of. They are not intended for the general user, and won't work for them anyway. I shall post SNAP/WATCH in eight parts, beginning on Monday, August 28. They will be posted at a rate of two or three parts per day. They will be in VMS_SHARE format, so strip off the mail header junk, concatonate them and @ the resulting file. Because of gateway variations, please don't deluge me with "I am missing part x" messages until the beginning of the following week. (Sep 4) If I get more than five requests for a particular part, I shall report it, otherwise, I'll just send it to the requestors. If somebody would like to make SNAP/WATCH available via ftp or a server, be my guest, but please let me know what you are doing.
