VAX SIG tape index This directory contains the following files: o INDEX.DOC - A brief description of the process used to create the indexes. o INDEX.LIS - A cumulative index of most material from SIG tapes from 1979 through the present. The index is organized by keyword (extracted from text files). For each keyword, files on the tape containing the keyword are listed. On some tapes, this file may be replaced by INDEX.LZS. As of the index containing the Dallas (VAX86A and VAX86B) tapes, I have omitted the leading "[8" from the file names in an attempt to fit more of the longer file names in the three column format. Tapes from 1979 have only the "[" omitted so that they can be easily distinguished from the 1980 and later tapes. o INDEX.LZS - A compressed version of the file INDEX.LIS. Use the following DCL commands to expand the file: $ LZD = "$dev:[VAX000.INDEX]LZDCM" $ LZD -B -X 0 -M 16 -V INDEX.LZS INDEX.LIS for additional information on the compression/decompression programs, see file AAAREADME.1ST. o INDEXnnl.LIS - An index of the VAXnnl save set (and the one following it). For example, INDEX85A.LIS indexes the VAX85A and VAX85B save-sets. o CONDIT.LIS - A list of keywords that were eliminated from the index if they did not appear somewhere in the file name. o NOISE.LIS - A list of keywords that were unconditionally eliminated from the index. Suggestions for improving the index are welcome and should be sent to: Tom Gerhard Advanced Data Management 15 Main Street Kingston, NJ 08528 (609) 799-4600 If there are submissions from older tapes that have been superceded, please drop me a note so that I can remove them from the cumulative index.
