    You need to set up a file (on the UN*X X-server side) called
"fonts.alias".  It lists pairs of font names.  If an application requests
one of those fonts, the associated local one is used instead.  The actual
fonts.alias file has been posted to Usenet (in comp.windows.x, by someone
at Digital; and later reposted to comp.os.vms [aka Info-VAX] last summer).
It is also included in directory DECW$EXAMPLES: for VMS V5.4.  We haven't
upgraded to 5.4 yet, but I have confirmed that it's there by using BACKUP
to look at the contents of the upgrade.  This is from saveset DECW054.G

It's described briefly in the _VMS_V5.4_Release_Notes_, section 3.14.7,
"X Servers -- Interoperability with Other Vendors' X Servers".  The
release notes mention that you might have to load some fonts from the
X11R4 tape onto your system if they're not already there.
