On my system, I have DECW$LOGIN_BACKGROUND assigned to DECW$EXAMPLES:LOGIN_BACKGROUND.COM. It's contents are as follows: $ xloadimage :== $ sys$system:xloadimage $ xloadimage -quiet - -onroot - -dither - -xzoom [whatever it takes...] - -yzoom [whatever it takes...] - [insert your favorite GIF file here...] $ exit One hint, since the command file is run as a detached process, you need to set PQL_DWSEXTENT up higher in order to improve the speed at which the GIF file is displayed. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - David L.
