We You are right. The deal is that like the DISPLAY env variable on cshell, you can set the display to be on a different station. By the way i could not find this in any DEC Manuals. I just tried it and it worked (8-) $ set display/create/transport=tcpip/node=node.domain This will setup the necessary stuff assuming: 1. Your VAXENS can think TCPIP over say MULTINET. Thats what we have here. 2. On your Sun you do the regular xhost + for the access control list enabling. 3. You have the font.alias from expo.lcs.mit.edu and set it up such that it is available to the X server. Actually DECWindows tries to use different fonts which are not found in X11R4 release So you have to add aliases to default DecWindow files. The alias is available in expo.lcs.mit.edu by anonymous ftp. I think if you do this you must be all set. Assuming i did not overlook anything. But if you need any stuff let me know |> currently have Win/TCP up (an older version), and we're going to |> upgrade (to Win or Focus or MultiNet or * we don't know; suggestions |> are more than welcome) soon. By the way in the station i am working, I have an mwm window manager running on an IBM RS6000 but the workstation itself is Sun 3/60 and i have approx 3 DecWindows program like paint, bookreader working. I am going to start a postscript viewer from a Sparc. And a plotting program from an IBM.
