The solution is as follows: (set object mail to call sys$manager:mail.com instead of activating the mail_server image directly) $ mc ncp def obj mail file mail $ mc ncp set obj mail file mail Edit sys$manager:mail.com and add a line saying: $ set proc/priv=nosysprv This problem has been reported to VMS engineering, and DEC is viewing it as something to be fixed asap.
