Thanks - Ed [transcript deleted] Last weekend I upgraded to VMS V5.4-2. This has caused a new behavior. MOUNT/FOR/SHARE device1 followed by MOUNT/FOR/SHARE device2 produce the same behavior as previously - the first disk is mounted twice. However, MOUNT/FOR/SHARE device1 dummy_label_1 followed by MOUNT/FOR/SHARE device2 dummy_label_2 Mounts the two disks - just like I want. In V5.2, the first disk was mounted twice even if dummy labels were specified. I have tested that two users can issue the above commands and get access to the disks. So, looks like I'm all set, right? WRONG!!!! When the dismount command is issued, the system crashes! It crashes so hard nothing is written to the error log. (This is a workstation and I don't have a dump file installed.) I believe that now I have found a bug - if a non-privileged user can cause a system crash, that can't be a feature! - Ed /----------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Edward J.
