Changes made in FALL 88 (V2.0) to support the Canada DECUS Symposium in Feb. 1989 in Vancouver, B.C.: 1) The SRN number that was assigned automatically has been changed to use the participants full DECUS Number. This required extensive changes to support the longer string and introduced some potential restrictions in operations since we don't want to re-use a number. For persons with no DECUS Number (new Walkin Members), the system will assign a fake SRN as before. 2) The registration form was changed to support the modifications to the Manual form sent out. This was really just a simplification as the number of different packages was changed. 3) The badge layout was changed a bit. The Full DECUS Number is there, with just the first name in bold double height, double width characters. The character set was extended to support all printing 7-bit characters. 4) A check is made on every registrant to against a DENIED PARTIES LIST. This check is done after the tombstone information is verified. The last name and company name are used as search strings in the DENIED file. The first 12 matches are displayed. The DENIED file does not contain addresses, so any likely match from the display must be further checked against the full hardcopy list. 5) Pickup utility has been implemented to identify attendees registered at the conference hotel or location at which they may be reached during the conference. The data is gathered and entered when the registrant comes in to pickup his hand-out/registration package. Keith Weaver
