9 ** TOOLS ** TOOLS ** TOOLS ** TOOLS ** TOOLS ** TOOLS > There is a new directory to collect engineer-written tools4 on EVMS. It is pointed to by the system logical7 DEVTOOLS. The directory DEVTOOLS:[TOOLS] contains this memo in README.TXT. ? If you have some tools you'd like to share, please create a> subdirectory for each tool in DEVTOOLS:[TOOLS]. The name : of the subdirectory should indicate the nature of the ( tool that it contains. For example: / $create/dir DEVTOOLS:[TOOLS.FORMAT_BUS]@ In the new subdirectory, place a file called README.TXT that
explains: 1 1) What the tool does, and how to use it.< 2) If you want to continue maintaining the tool, or : if you want to approve any improvements made to the tool., 3) How to compile and link the tool. C Place the source code in the new subdirectory, and, optionally,- any objects or images that may be useful.B At some point in the future, the HHG will contain an index to ; the tools in DEVTOOLS:[TOOLS]. For now, a directory of9 DEVTOOLS:[TOOLS] and the README.TXT files can be used instead.< There are no restrictions on these directories - you do = not have to maintain the tool, and the tool does not have; to work correctly or be approved. The goal is to have = tools in a central location so that all VMS engineers can find and use them.> Please send any questions or comments on the tools area to JARETH::TOOLTIME.
