VMSINSTAL and VMSUPGRADE are 'legacy' tools, the new kid on the block is
the Polycenter Software Installation tool. It askes questions during a
VMS upgrade that smack of AIX: is this an overwrite or preservation 
installation. It first rears its head in VMS 6.0, so I've heard.

The string is 'b -fl 0,1 dka<whatever>'; e.g.,

>>> b -fl 0,1 dka300

which can be fully-stated to

>>> boot -flags 0,1 dka300

Hmmm, that is sorta Unixy, isn't it. But to be truly Unixy, 'boot' would
have to be replaced with people's initials (AWK) or their dog's name
(Biff).

Maybe this is intended for the day that VMS is retired or sold off to
someone else, and there's nothing left but OSF/1 or Windows-NT to chose
from...   ;-)
