IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GIF SUPPORT ============================== Gnuplot requires the gd library from http://www.boutell.com/gd/ to create gif output. Note that the use of this code may subject your organisation to a charge of willful patent infringement (as stated by UNISYS) unless you are in possession of a UNISYS license. The UNISYS patent covers the LZW technology which is used to create gifs. To our knowledge, only gd library version 1.3 and 1.4 are free of LZW code and should therefore be used with gnuplot (unless you have a license from Unisys to use LZW code, in which case version 1.2 and 1.5 is fine, too). The binaries provided here have been built with version 1.3. Version 1.6+ cannot be used because support for GIF has been removed altogether. However, gnuplot can use gd library 1.6+ to generate png and jpeg images. FAQ === The gnuplot FAQ is now available at http://www.gnuplot.info/faq/. The Gnuplot Plotting Utility ============================ This directory contains the source and binary distribution for gnuplot, the interactive plotting utility. To learn more about gnuplot, check out the following URLs. (Macintosh) (in french) (more french) (gnuplot and LaTeX) (gnuplot API in ANSI C) (a gnuplot link site in french) (Plot quarterly time data) (gnuplot and Python) (Solaris, IRIX, HP-UX and Digital Unix binaries) Contents of this directory ========================== The binary archives generally come with platform specific documentation. Some include even the demo files. All source and binary archives, except those in the contrib directory, have been signed with PGP. Other platforms =============== A binary distribution for Amiga (m68k) will shortly be available on Aminet . The status of the Macintosh version is unknown at this time. Contributions for other platforms, especially Amiga/PPC, are welcome, and volunteers should contact me at the email address below.
