readme(uri) readme(uri) NAME uri - image access library and utilities Copyright (c) 1990-1992 Peter Miller. All rights reserved. DESCRIPTION The uri package is a library of access functions for raster images, and some example utilities using the library. The name was chosen by a random number generator, because all the ones I wanted to use were already taken. The names does not mean anything; it is not an acronym. The interface to the library is very simple, and uses object-oriented techniques to allow a clean and symmetric implementation of any new file format. Descriptions of the image access functions may be found in the man3 directory of this distribution. A number of utilities, notably uriconv(1) which converts between any of the known formats, are included to demonstrate the use of the library. BUILDING The file BUILDING in this distribution contains instructions for how to build and install the uri package.
