Free PC-DOS This area contains FreeDOS, a descendant of DR-DOS, which has been released to the public. It is quite compatible with MS-DOS, but has no Microsoft code in it and can be used to run MSDOS apps. It is possible that it might also run Win 3.1 or 3.11, though there are rumors that this may fail. (Some of these claim that Microsoft has deliberate tests designed to make DR-DOS look bad, while others say that Digital Research put out a patch to overcome this within a week.) At any rate, sources are also present for your inspection. Thus if you want to run non-Microsoft code on your PC and prefer not to have it look like unix, this may be an alternative. (It might also run TSX+.)
