This document attempts to provide hints and answers for basic problems
encountered when setting shared directories, print services, user accounts
and access control on the Samba server. Nothing here cannot be found in
already existing documentation for Samba and or MS-Windows but it may not
always be easy to find, especially for folks not used to reading
documentation. :-) On the other hand the full documentation is much more
detailed and touches on many points not even mentioned here.

There are many variations on this basic theme and the author has seen only
some of them. Further, Samba itself develops and changes rather quickly,
especially at present as we move towards version 2.0. It has become very
popular and gains contributions and technical informations from quarters
previously unexpected. Therefore these answers may not always be absolutely
valid. They may also depend on specifics of your network and the version of
Samba you are running; especially when it comes to browsing. Please
contribute and correct at will!
