  Russian (and Cyrillic Characterset) Variants?
 The Question is:

Support of russion language/characterset in OpenVMS ?
One of our customers wants to run an application on an OpenVMS system located
in Moscow and the dialog on the screen should be in russian language and with
cyrillic characterset. I found already that the VT5xx - terminal family
 supports the cyrillic chara
cterset, also special keyboards with this characterset are available.
Does OpenVMS support the cyrillic characterset, which special things have to be
considered and where can I find more information ?

 The Answer is :

Generating the characters on a display is little more than sending
the proper bytes, determining the proper bytes to send is the more
interesting and difficult part -- various terminals and X Windows
displays can certainly generate Cyrillic characters, of course.

This is where a localized version of DECwindows and of OpenVMS is
  involved, if available.

Please contact the customer support center in the region of
interest for assistance with and information on the availability
  of local language variants.
