The terse CPU hardware error dept
 The Question is:

We have been getting a cpu error count growing when running the SHOW ERROR
command. I was wondering if this error is a warning of a potential problem or
 is something insignificant.

Would appreciate some help with this matter.

Thanks,
Nick

 The Answer is :

The severity of the problem with your hardware is even less obvious
to the OpenVMS Wizard -- without specific details of the particular
Alpha system and the particular error(s) being logged, there can be
absolutely no certainty around the severity of the errors.

Please contact your hardware support organization for assistance
with this and with most any other hardware-level errors.

While not intending to imply any particular error severity might be
involved here, the OpenVMS Wizard would obviously encourage you to
use this opportunity to review the appropriateness of your current
archival strategy (if any), and to test any associated recovery
processing and procedures you might have. Put another way, check
your system BACKUP(s), and find out how recently and how frequently
the BACKUPs are performed, and determine if you can successfully
restore files from the BACKUP archives.
