You should probably poke around in the alt.sys.pdp8 world, and you should
poke around the PDP-8 web pages (http://www.cs.uiowa.edu/~jones/pdp8/ is a
good gateway to those).

DECmates are fairly easy to come by, older machines are proportionally
harder to get.  The PDP-8/S and the PDP-5 are the rarest.
