Q: Where can i download the MPEG-4 and MJPEG codecs?

A: See powerip.txt

Q: Why must I use 24bit mode when using clipboard screen captures?

A: You must use 24bit so no time costly conversion will take place,
it is slower to convert an entire screen from 32bit->24bit than
using the file capture option. Also, loading at 16bit from clipboard
   would cause quality loss.

Q: How can i speed up encoding?

A: Minimize the PowerDVD display window, make sure the Preview window
is diabled and that the PowerDVD user interface is the active application.
You may also try making a RAM drive for the PowerDVD screen capture directory
and specifying a different directory for the Movie Capture.

Q: Why when i press begin the program freezes?

A: Make sure that hardware acceleration in PowerDVD is disabled, if it's enabled,
PowerDVD disables screen captures which freezes Power Ripper since it's expecting
a bitmap to be created. Also, make sure powerdvd is actually playing and paused
at where you want to start capturing within the movie.

Q: What is the "Alternative Cap Search" feature?

A: This enables a different routine for finding the bitmaps PowerDVD creates, using
it will only work with PowerDVD v1.6 (v1.5 and v1.3 will cease working). This method
is not desireable as it can cause Power Ripper to become less stable, try it only
if you can't get Power Ripper to work.

Q: Why do i get a black screen in PowerDVD?

A: You are probably using a Matrox or Permedia 2 card which lacks the MPEG overlay
hardware required by PowerDVD, using an older version of PowerDVD may solve this issue.

Q: How can i contact the author?

A: You can't, you can try asking on #pcdvd on efnet (or #pcdvd2 if #pcdvd doesn't work).
