  Having something sensitive to a particular device name is generally
  bad news...

  Options include excluding EWA0:

    SYSMAN> IO SET EXCLUDE EWA0

  Or suppressing all device autoconfiguration and configure everything 
  else yourself...  (Via the available device configuration mechanism 
  or otherwise...)

  Or (usually recommended) use the network configuration scripts to 
  disable the access to and use of the particular controller -- DECnet 
  Phase IV NCP, DECnet-Plus NCL, and TCP/IP all have this ability.

  I know of no jumper to disable the Ethernet controller located on the
  embedded I/O module, nor an SRM command to disable its configuration...
