  Short answer: Nope.

  Recommendation: Get a SCSI disk.

  Verbose answer:  Interestingly, I don't believe we are yet officially 
  supporting any IDE disk drives on the OpenVMS platform -- the Personal 
  Workstation series boxes (preferably those with the Cypress and not the 
  Intel SIO) -- that first supported IDE CD-ROM drives.

  That said, I would not hold much hope of an IDE disk drive working on the 
  Multia (UDB) series -- as far as the midnight hobbyist port of OpenVMS was 
  concerned, many things just won't work on that box.  (The target for the 
  midnight work was basic bootstraps, graphics and DECwindows, basic network, 
  and SCSI -- various of the other pieces on that box are known not to work.)
