Then there's a version available.

ftp://ftp.sidhe.org/perl5_005_03_vmsaxp62.zip is there. It's a mutant kit;
most of it was built on 6.2, but Tk and VMS::ICC were both built on 7.2.
It's a .zip from PERL_ROOT:[000000], so check out the instructions at
http://www.sidhe.org/vmsperl/prebuilt.html to see what you need to do.
(I'll try to get a readme in the kit, but this is a two-minute throw-together)

As a handy side-effect you get Coy, along with a bunch of other modules.
(libnet, lwp, DBI, DBD::Sybase, and MIME::Lite amongst them) Coy's my
personal favorite--haiku error messages anyone? :)
