This is the readme for FISH (a slurred "Free SSH" maybe :-), a SSH
client for VMS.

It is a quick port of Top Gun ssh from the PalmPilot to VMS; it was
just intended to be a proof of concept port, and it is ugly, but it
turned out to work well enough to be useful, and after Richard Levitte
<richard@levitte.org> made a lot of bugfixes it seems to be quite
stable too.

Since people on comp.os.vms have been begging for a port of SSH to VMS
for so long that I decided to release it anyway, despite its ugliness.

I must say that I'm impressed by the TGssh source, it is very well
written and was quite easy to port to VMS. Please don't judge Ian's
code by my quick hack'n'slash port to VMS.

Enjoy, and if you can, please improve and share the code, a good SSH
for VMS is desperately needed. Some areas of enhancement might be:
    * Port forwarding
    * X connection forwarding (maybe just port forwarding to begin with)
    * File transfer

You may want to read some of these files:

INSTALL.TXT	Installation instructions. MANDATORY!
NEWS.TXT	What has changed?
PROBLEMS.TXT	What known problems are there?
README.CIPHERS	More on the currently supported ciphers (inspired from
		the file with the same name that comes with the original
		ssh distribution).
